Local Moves with Pods Storage

A few months ago, we sold our house and moved to a different neighborhood in the same city. We always hired a moving companies for our previous moves. It always involved a whirlwind team of people at our house who packed things right from under your nose. I am a bit of a control freak and that always left me feeling completely out of balance. We usually spent a couple weeks slowly packing up the things we did not want the movers packing. The more we packed, the more unrecognizable the rooms would become and we could barely move around all the stacks of boxes. We always wished we had a garage or staging area for all the packed boxes, so we could at least still have space to live while we were packing. The pods storage concept did not even cross our minds. We decided to try something new this time. We went with pods storage, after researching it a bit. We did not have to do much. After a quick scheduling call, the company brought the storage container to our driveway. It was a big square metal thing (they come in different sizes) with big doors and a huge lock. We had the pods storage container for a little over a week. We were able to take our time packing. We would pack a couple boxes after we would get home each evening and could stack them directly in the storage unit. We did not have to rush as we had done with so many of our other moves. The pods storage company even put us in touch with some movers to handle the heavy lifting for us. The movers came the day prior to the container being picked up. A truck moved the storage from our house to the new house within a matter of hours.

The day you move can try even the most patient person. Having to unload and unpack everything in new place the same day that you just packed the old place is exhausting. Another advantage of pods storage is that, like during the moving phase, you can take your time unpacking. We had the same movers who did the heavy lifting a couple days before come to the new place that day and unload the furniture. We took our time to unpack the rest, which allowed us to get organized and not feel overwhelmed. When we were all unpacked, the pods storage people picked the container up and we were all done. If you are not moving locally, the pods storage company also offers storage units in climate controlled warehouses until you are ready to receive your container.

It was much less stressful and more cost effective to hire pods storage. We had the storage unit for a total of three weeks and it ran us about the same amount we would have paid to lease a U haul for a weekend. Pods storage helped us be more organized, because we could take our time and situate and unpack things more efficiently.
